Description: Being presented for sale is this absolutely stunning early Victorian Walnut Serpentine Front Marble Top Dresser with fabulous Sea Serpent Carved Arm Supports circa 1860's. This fabulous early dresser is from Chicora Wood Plantation ; an historical Rice plantation in South Carolina that was built in 1817. We believe this dresser to have its original rich finish, original marble and mirror and the original early wood ring drawer pulls that are attached with wooden screws and blocks, and the original casters intact on the base. This high quality dresser has early dove-tailed construction on the dresser base top up under the marble and also on the drawer ends; and an old label with an original owners name handwritten with Chicora, SC written below on the base up under the marble. This dresser has a grand, majestic presence with incredible carvings and details; and amazingly left in its original state...you can almost feel the history in this piece when you touch it....incredible!This grand 19th century dresser measures 89 1/2 inches tall to the top of the fancy carved crest on the mirror, height to the marble top is 35 inches, total width of 49 inches , total depth of 23 1/2 inches and weighs approximately 250 lbs, This dresser does dis-assemble into 5 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving ( base, marble, mirror, two carved arm supports). The original oval mirror measures 38 1/2 inches high by 27 3/4 inches and is attached to the fancy carved arm supports with the original walnut finial screws and the mirror does pivot front to back to adjust for viewing. This Victorian dresser is in excellent antique condition for its age , and is rich with history. The original mirror does have cloudiness and silver loss as expected for a mirror of this age and there is a small chip of wood missing on the bottom right side by the front foot that appears to have been missing for some time. The gorgeous beveled edge cookie corner marble is stunning with no issues, there is a small piece of the marble missing on the left back corner underside which I have shown a close-up picture of this area. This is not noticeable from the front or top and does not affect the integrity of the marble at all. Please view , enlarge and use all 12 of the pictures as part of the description and ask all questions and concerns before purchase.
