Description: Antique IXL George Wostenholm Pocket Knife circa 1890-1930's This is an old one! The date stamp on this was first used in 1890 after the McKinley Tariff Act of 1890 required knives to be stamped with their country of origin. The stamp and letter font, plus the large rounded tang on the smallest blade help date this to the early 1930's at the latest. The main blade opens pretty stiffly and needs a good tug to open. Has good snap on open and close. The small blade doesn't have snap to it on open or close, it looks like the spring is not working properly. When closed, the small blade can actually over close and somewhat slide down into the housing cavity/slot. When opened, both blades are very solid and do not show any side to side play. This is made with forged carbon steel blades, which takes on a serious edge. And both blades are damn sharp! lol They used some serious steel in Sheffield back in the day! Please review all of the photos as they are part of the description. Photos will supersede any written descriptions in case I missed noting anything or made an error in what I did write, so please look closely and ask questions if in doubt.
