EAPG Covered Butter Cheese Dish Consolidated Glass Co Cosmos Milk Opaque 1896

Description: Antique EAPG Milk Glass Covered Butter Cheese Compote Dish by Consolidated Glass Co. in Wild Rose or Cosmos Pattern from 1896 This is an antique opaque milk glass dome covered cheese or butter dish, made by Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company in the Wild Rose or Cosmos pattern. This EAPG pattern is made up of embossed diamonds and flowers and was introduced circa 1896. The flowers are painted pink, blue, and yellow and there is also a pink band near the top of the lid. The milk glass is opaque and you can see through it in the light. This is more common with the earlier pieces of milk glass. It is in excellent condition, it does show normal flea bites where the lid meets the dish that is customary in glass of this age., see photos close up. The paint will slightly vary but is in overall good condition with some wear. There is blue spot in photos 2 and 6 where the glass is most opaque or where it is very transparent. It comes off as a blue hue. It is unique and common in early milk glass pieces. It measures approximately 5 5/8" tall and the bottom of the lid is 5 1/4" in diameter. The dish is 8" in diameter and 1 1/4" tall. It will be wrapped in bubble wrap surrounded by packaging noodles for safe delivery. These antique domed shaped dishes are excellent to use for butter, cheese, donuts, I used it to store cupcakes in at Easter.
