The Story: An American woman is married to a dull Swedish businessman - a ball bearing salesman. He's leaving on a business trip to Brazil and she decides to go along, but is held up in customs and misses the plane. Trying to get back home, she is accidentally introduced to a group of Yugoslavian gypsies living in Sweden, just as they start to celebrate the new year. She falls in love with their peculiar manners and decides to stay on for a couple of days, ending up in a romantic affair with one of the group, singing in a topless bar and having a lot of fun along the way. Comments: Said to be based on a true story, this off-beat film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1981. The casting is perfect and the story intriguing. Be prepared for more than a few not-so-gentle jabs at the conventions of society. Per the label, the film has 97 minute running time and is presented in widescreen 1.66:1 format; with original English and Swedish audio, no subtitles. This movie-on-demand MOD archive title on recorded media is new and factory sealed. The DVD disc is Region 1, NTSC format, specifically designed to play on DVD players in North America.
