She's shown holding a freshly hatched chick as another chick stands on an egg basket looking on. When you supersize image 1 you can see the wonderful details. Notice the wind mill in the background. The artistry's terrific and the colors are still vivid. I believe that Ellen Clapsaddle, one of the most prolific and talented postcard artists at the turn of the last century, may have provided the illustration as it resembles her style. Printed in pre-WWI Germany, and published by the International Art Publishing Co. (one of Clapsaddle's favorite publishers--their logo is on the back), this lovely vintage postcard has been posted and has a 1914 cancellation across the one-cent stamp on the divided back. Here is a wonderful 100 year-old antique card that is ready for framing. It will make a thoughtful gift or can be added to your postcard collection.
