Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a antique Sterling Silver bread tray decorated with an elaborately embossed pattern made by Durgin in the lst quarter of the 1800's. The design features embossed floral swage and elaborate crest with a crown on top at each end and an embossed rolled edge. The bowl is also engraved with a fancy 3-letter monogram I believe is "G L L". Marked with the Durgin trademark stamp and "Sterling, 134". The William B. Durgin Co. operated in both Concord NH and Providence RI from 1880-1905 when they were absorbed into the Gorham Company. Durgin silver was of very high quality and is highly collected. This pattern on this bread tray is absolutely stunning although it does have condition issues described completely below. Measures 1" high (at center of side), 2 1/2" high (at ends), 12 1/2" long and 7" wide. Weighs 398 grams. This beautiful bread tray does have some condition flaws. Although the upper sides and decorated areas are in very good condition, the lower sides near the flat oval bottom do have numerous dents/dings as does the bottom of the bowl. This would be a gorgeous bread tray to use as the condition flaws would not be seen when the tray has contents. Please view all photos as part of the condition description. We are listing this bread tray hoping that someone will want to use it as it would be a shame to have it scrapped and a silver restorer could remove the dents if you desire to do so. We currently have a large selection of Sterling Silver flatware available including many serving pieces as well as assorted hollow ware and tea/coffee services, so please check our eBay Store for other great items. We at Antiques & Moore have been in the Antiques business for over 30 years and try to describe our items as accurately as possible.
