Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Dragon Armor 10.5 cm StuH.(Sturmhaubitze) 42 Ausf G No. 60458, Vintage year - 2012, Scale - 1:72 Unit - 8.Kavallerie-Division Florian Geyer - was a Waffen SS cavalry division formed in 1942 from a cadre of the SS Cavalry Brigade. It was named after Florian Geyer, the Franconian nobleman who led the Black Company during the German Peasants' War. The division was destroyed during the fighting in the Siege of Budapest in early 1945. Campaign - Eastern Front 1944 - the division was sent to the Eastern Front and stationed in the Rzhev and Orel sectors in central Russia until spring 1943. After the Ninth Army evacuation from the Rzhev salient in Operation Buffalo in March 1943, the division took part in large-scale pacification sweeps that included widespread atrocities against civilian population. The division was then moved to the area around Bobruisk on internal security and anti-partisan duties until September 1943. Later the division was sent to the Southern front and took part in the German retreat to the Dnieper River. The division was sent to Hungary in October 1943 where the Panzerjager and Sturmgeschutz Battalions were combined and the Reconnaissance Battalion became a Panzer Reconnaissance Battalion. The division was posted to Croatia and in April 1944 returned to Hungary and took part in the fighting in Transylvania after the Romanian front collapsed. The division was trapped in the Siege of Budapest with the IX SS Mountain Corps when the Soviet and Romanian forces surrounded the city in December 1944. Note - the Sturmgeschutz Vor (assault gun) units of the Wehrmacht were under the command of the artillery branch and not the Panzerwaffe. The units had only six vehicles initially (comparable to an artillery battery) and increased to 14 by war's end. In 1944 many Sturmgeschutz units were redesignated as Sturmartillerie (assault artillery) and many Abteilungen units were redesignated to brigades in early 1944 (expanding the Batterie to 10 and then 14 units). Markings - Dark green, dark brown and sand/tan camouflage with dots. No. 132 in black outline on turret and cross. Model - In 1942 a variant of the StuG III Ausf F was designed with a 105 mm (4.1 inch) howitzer instead of the 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/43 cannon. These new vehicles, designated StuH 42, were designed to provide infantry support with the increased number of StuG III Ausf F/8 and Ausf Gs being used in the anti-tank role. The StuH 42 mounted a variant of the 10.5 cm leFH 18 howitzer, modified to be electrically fired and fitted with a muzzle brake. Production models were built on StuG III Ausf G chassis. The muzzle brake was often omitted due to scarcity of resources in the later part of the war. Around 1,300 StuH 42 were produced by Alkett from March 1943 to 1945. The initial 12 vehicles were built on repaired StuG III Ausf F and F/8 from Autumn 1942 to January 1943. Condition - new/original owner Thank you for your interest.
