Description: About the item: Measuring approximately 8 1/4 by 11 inches and drawn in pencil on tracing vellum, this prelim features the work of acclaimed Playboy artist Doug Sneyd. It is the rough for his gag cartoon for Playboy August 1996. Also included is a color Xerox of the pencils that has been hand-colored by the artist (part of his creative process in illustrating the final version of the cartoon as it will appear in the issue). Both are in good condition and will be shipped with the utmost care (please note, as prelims they are expected to have minor wear- also, a small area was cut from the piece with other artwork taped in to replace the mans face (Sneyd not having been satisfied with its original look). Also included with the listing is a Xerox copy of the page from the magazine that features the finished cartoon as well as a Xerox copy of the earlier version of the pencils that features the face as it originally appeared. Please note that the magazine itself is not included with the listing. About Doug Sneyd: Doug Sneyd began his career in commercial illustration before going freelance to work for a variety of book and magazine publishers. He also illustrated single-panel cartoons for the Toronto Star, Canada's largest circulation newspaper (cartoons that were eventually syndicated throughout North America). In 1964, he began working for Playboy and his gag strips have appeared in the magazine ever since. Throughout his career, he has contributed over 500 cartoons in all and became a favorite artist of Playboy readers.
