For a time, she was nicknamed "Kid Nazimova" for her ability to imitate the Russian-born, Hollywood actress, Alla Nazimova. Phillips' career slowed after 1927, and she mainly appeared in uncredited bit roles for the rest of her career. William Stowell began his film career with Universal in 1909 when he appeared in "The Millionaire Cowboy". For the next 10 years he starred in 119 silent movies. A versatile actor with matinee idol good looks, he appeared in everything from westerns to slapstick comedies and starred with such notables as Tom Mix, Lon Chaney, Sr., Harold Lockwood, Charlotte Burton, and in a series of melodramas with Dorothy Phillips. In 1919 Universal sent him to Africa to make a film on location. He was critically injured in a train crash en route from Capetown, South Africa to Elizabethtown, Belgian Congo, and died three days later in an Elizabethville hospital.
