Description: DOMINICAN REPUBLIC TRUJILLO ERA BASEBALL Santiago Baseball Team January 11, 1948 Rio Verdes Plane Crash RPPC REAL PHOTO POST CARD DETAILS: Original Trujillo Era photograph of the Santiago Baseball Club management including there coach. Taken in Barahona DR on January 11, 1948 -- the day of there plane crash. The two players shown in the photo are Bombo Ramos and Puchuan Rivera. Also note that the person sitting next to the team manager is the pilot of the doomed Dominicana Airlines plane. Shortly after this photograph was taken the team would board an airplane back to the capitol Santiago. Unfortunately the twin engine McDonnell Douglas plane crashed into the mountains instead of arriving home. Thirty three people died in the crash including the entire plane crew and most and of the baseball team. Measures 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" inches.
