Description: Disneyland 1955 Opening Day Cast Member JIM QUIGLEY Silver Pass Walt Disney 2002 Collectible Disneyland Treasures from Saturday's Toys presents... an historic Disneyland Silver Pass from 2002... Features the imprinted signature of Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Michael Eisner. Issued for the year 2002... to original 1955 Disneyland opening day cast member, James J. Quigley (then retired; original pre-opening date of hire has been independently verified as June 30, 1955; more than two weeks prior to Disneyland's grand opening). Card was issued to James Joseph Quigley (1929 - 2011) and his wife Charlene Elizabeth Quigley (1934 - 2019). Signed as "James J. Quigley" and "Charlene E. Quigley." Working in Disneyland's finance department since opening day on July 17, 1955, Jim Quigley was one of the unsung heroes of Disneyland's early years. He confirmed the often told stories of Disneyland management actually rushing cash directly from Disneyland's Main Gate ticket booths to the accounting department in order to meet weekly payroll obligations during the Park's lean early years of operation. This historic card was valid for admission at all Disney theme parks then in operation (with the exception of Tokyo Disneyland). Limitations were later added for all employees and retirees; eventually detailing a growing list of blackout days that gradually reduced the scope of these retiree benefits; particularly as these 1955 charter members originally held passes that gave them unlimited days of admission; 365 days per year; with up to three guests each day. Good condition with normal signs of wear; as personally carried throughout that year. Valid thru December 31, 2002. Of particular note, this was among the earliest retiree silver passes to introduce the concept of the dreaded "BLOCKOUT DAYS." Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first online specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 16,000 coveted treasures since that time, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers and collectors throughout the globe. Today, online offerings of archival keepsakes are presented in celebration of the times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately represented by "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a nod to the Sherman Brothers): "Oh, let's go fly a kite!" We are glad to combine shipping for multiple purchases in order to reduce costs whenever possible. Simply let us know before processing payment for the items selected and we'll be glad to revise and forward a final invoice to reflect the combined shipping price. This usually works most effectively when combining flat paper items (postcards, newsletters, ephemera, etc.) but we'll do our best to make any combined purchase provide your best value for shipping.
