The era is a fictionalized take on the Dark Ages, likely set in the early 11th century, since Futurama is set in the late 30th century and the early 31st century, just as The Simpsons is set in the present day of the late 20th century and the early 21st century. The series follows the story of Bean, a rebellious alcoholic princess, as well as her naïve elf companion Elfo and her destructive "personal demon" Luci.
