Description: This is a first-generation COPY of a 1963 script from THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW TV series (not a transcript or Photoshop recreation). It’s the second-highest rated episode on IMDb. The 53-page script is from the iconic “That’s My Boy??” episode of this very funny and legendary comedy series. The story: During a flashback about his early days as a parent, Rob (Dick Van Dyke) recounts why he believed Laura (Mary Tyler Moore) and he brought home a baby belonging to someone else. The surprise reveal at the end of this episode caused the longest laugh by the studio audience in the show's history. It lasted several minutes, and most of it had to be edited out of the finished show. Executive producer Sheldon Leonard, who was sensitive about racial matters, was not convinced the ending was funny, until the studio audience’s wild reaction. Leonard later cited the episode as his favorite. The script for this episode launched the writing and producing careers of co-authors Bill Persky and Sam Denoff, who submitted a draft "on spec" to series producer Carl Reiner. The show was colorized and broadcast on CBS in 2016. The script's cover has been reproduced in color and a sheet of acetate is included to keep it looking pristine (to be honest, this copy looks better than the original). The script pages are printed on one side. Great care has been taken to make this a piece that a TV collector will be proud to own and display.
