Description: A very rare Derby Silver Co. Silverplate Repousse Style Lidded Hinged Pitcher from the late 1800s, perfect for syrup, sauces, creamer. The lidded top with an extended lip over the spout is common in syrup pitchers and keeps the contents fresh and protected. Beautiful for display the ornate repousse work, scrolled handle, stately finial, make this a piece of unique elegance by the Derby Silver Co. in quadruple plate so marked on the bottom. Probably made about 1880, considering the age it is in wonderful condition with silvery surfaces, One round area toward the back near the handle (see photos) where there is some loss of silver coating but it's tucked out of the way and doesn't detract. The interior is clean enough to use. Approximately 6" tall.
