Description: Deluxe Reading X-500 Missile Base Playset. It is a vintage toy from 1960. This toy is massive. The Defense Center is about 21” long by 12” deep by 12” tall. The Launch Tower is about 21 x 10 x 15”. There are accessories and men everywhere. Lots of shooting defense missils. A train car with spare capsuels. Attractive red, white and black colors The launch platform slides. But something this old will have issues. There is no instruction sheet so I don’t know all the problems. on the Defense Center... there is no helicopter. No dome over the telescope. The battery holders are rusted out. It looks like it did survive, and fend off, a Martian attack but took damage to some knobs and chrome surfaces. on the Launch Tower... The spring to launch the rocket is gone. There are two cranes so you may be able to get one to work. The elevator has no top dome or crank and the elevator cab is jammed in the shaft. There are some missing pieces and chrome blemishes (those pesky Martians). And the dog (?dogtronaut?) is missing. There is no box. All-in-all, if you have Space on your mind, and space on your shelf, this would be a “far out”., dare I say, “out of this world” journey to your younger days.
