Description: REFERENCE LAPTOP N5010 #2 This is a DELL INSPIRON N5010 laptop that has been cleaned, refurbished as needed and upgraded to a nice full-featured Linux Zorin 17.2 (Education version that can be upgraded to the paid “Pro” version if desired) machine ready for use as a great lightweight Internet browsing, e-mail, and general-purpose laptop. As this is and older (but quite capable) model, Linux runs far better, faster, and more efficiently than attempting to run Windows 10 (or 11) on this laptop. Zorin 17.2 runs on the popular Ubuntu Linux platform but the Zorin Desktop is about as Windows-like as they come and the learning curve is therefore very short for newcomers to Linux. This is the perfect opportunity to become familiar with one of the most popular and easy-to-use Linux distributions available and the learning curve is minimal because they are very Windows-like in functionality. I’ve pre-installed Zorin Linux 17.2 for you to make sure it operates well and to ensure functionality. Of course, Linux is a free open-source platform devoid of many Windows issues and apps are free and easily installed via each operating system’s software managers. The full-featured free version of Zorin 17.2 is also called the Education version have plenty of productivity, music, multimedia apps and games and both have basic full-featured apps already installed including a complete LibreOffice suite, and the distributions of Zorin Linux is well supported on its website. You can also upgrade the Education version to an even more robust Pro version with a few more features to the Pro version is not free (basically it offers more software, but the free version has access to just about all the free software you could possibly use for most people). This is the perfect opportunity to learn to use a Linux-based machine with all the advantages, or if you’re already familiar with Linux, just to have a handy extra laptop (or backup laptop) just for e-mailing and web browsing! This machine is reasonably clean with minimal wear and scratches and fully functional. I take pride in repurposing these older machines that still have plenty of life in them when not pushed beyond their reasonable limits. It includes a **NEW** battery in perfect working condition, a new CMOS battery which should last for about 10 years, a 65-watt AC power adapter (the same or similar one in the pics), a Zorin 12.2 install DVD, a set of battery break-in instructions (new batteries need “conditioned” for maximum longevity), a printed set of the basic features/layout of the Dell Inspiron N5010, and I’ve downloaded the Inspiron N5010 getting-started and service manuals onto the Zorin desktop for you! – how’s that for customer care? Known cosmetic defects: some minor scratches/scuffs on outer case, some normal wear on the keyboard and touchpad which does not detract from overall picture quality. This one does have a case-crack in the one corner way where the original owner may have dropped it (see pic) but it does not affect the USB port functionality in any. Pre-OS diagnostics have been run on this laptop (which are independent of the operating system) and no issues were found. If not using a Bluetooth mouse I suggest buying a wireless USB mouse with a dongle for this laptop – which works flawlessly with this laptop and Linux as a plug-n-play device.
