Description: The Suite of Degas Ballet Dancers originally came in a French blue portfolio with the words Degas Silkscreens printed on the front. Carefully tucked inside were four magnificent pastel silkscreens. Two of the images printed on French blue paper, two images on a grey blue color paper. The French blue paper images measure 16"x21", the grey blue images measure 20"x17". Works are framed with 2.5" white mat board with a black fillet and metal frame. Framed 17"x20.5" and 20.5"x17" I have attempted to find out as much about them as possible. I have made some recent discoveries with their history. The suite was originally printed posthumously in1956. They were reproduced from a rare collection that Degas originally created on paper. Degas loved to paint on colored paper. For more information, please refer to Degas Dancers by Claude Roger-Marx: Degas Dancers by Claude Roger-Marx Petite Encyclopédie de L'ArtFernand HazanPrinted in France - 1956 Extremely small ding mark in the metal frame also minor paper wrinkle in one of images. Reflection in plexiglass was unavoidable when taking photos. I've included photos taken with a flash camera years ago and as you will observe no reflection. Works of art are clear and beautiful and the artwork is closest in color to the flash camera appearance as well as the mat board with black fillet.
