Description: DARKNESS AT NOON by Arthur Koestler 1941 First Edition HardCover with DJ. "Darkness at Noon" by Arthur Koestler is a significant work of 20th-century literature. The first edition was published in 1941 by The Macmillan Company. This novel is set during the Stalinist Great Purge and follows the story of Rubashov, an Old Bolshevik, who is arrested and tried for treason against the government he helped to create. It's considered one of Koestler's masterpieces and has been praised for its dramatic power and persuasive simplicity. The book is also listed by Modern Library as one of the 100 Great Novels of the twentieth century. The book is in acceptable condition. The dust jacket is torn in several places and shows wear in terms of scuffing and creasing along the edges especially. The binding is tight and there are no loose or missing pages. The page corners are nice aren't don't curled, bent, folded or dog-eared. The inner pages are free of writing in pen, pencil, crayon, marker and highlighter. There's some discoloration on the inside from and back cover pages, I believe due to the aging of the glue or adhesive used to attach the paper to the cover boards. The book has been stored inside of a plastic tote and comes from a smoke-free home. Please see photos for additinal details. Price has been discounted due to aforementioned flaws.
