Description: In addition to the long-running Dark Horse Presents (several volumes, about a million issues) & the shorter-lived Dark Horse Comics (barely a volume of only 25 issues) Dark Horse has published some additional Anthology comics, like Instant Piano & Dark Horse Down Under... followed by Scatterbrain! Only 4 issues & it claims to be the second volume? The first volume of Scatterbrain may have been printed by Brainstorm ages ago, but it is difficult to find accurate information about the non-Superhero comix that hardly anyone reads or cares about... though perhaps this second volume thing is just an oblique reference to the entirely false & satirical 'Scatterbrain Through the Years' editorial, which claims that it was first published in 1952 by Richard M Nixon, or something like that..? Anyway; the debut issue of Dark Horse's Scatterbrain opens with a Mike Mignola short story; 'Abu Gung & The Beanstalk' which has only appeared previously in 'The Amazing Screw-On Head & Other Curious Objects,' though that was a different version with some altered art & rearranged panels. The Devil in this story might be modelled on what Hellboy would have ended-up looking like if he had stayed in Mexico, boozing & eating too many tamales? Additionally; there is a retro Faery-Tale by Steve Parkhouse (Invisibles) which might not appear out of place in the Mignola-verse... they could team-up? Or do a cross-over? Pat McEown (Grendel : Warchild) contributes a Robot-themed story, Chris Garbutt (one of those depraved Nickelodeon weirdos) provides a Chicken cartoon & Dave Cooper is responsible for the usual insanity. Yes; various eclectic strips with very little in common... the true essense of the Anthology Comic! Enjoy!
