Example: Stated grades, VF to NM. Grade of book should grade out between VF+/- or NM+/-. MINT (M): – Basically a perfect book with maybe only an extremely minor flaw or two. NEAR MINT (NM): – Comics in this range may have one or more of the following defects. Cover is relatively flat with minor surface wear and the cover inks are generally bright with medium to high reflectivity. A small amount of spine stress without color breaks, minor instances of denting, slight corner blunting, and minor bends without color breaks. VERY FINE (VF): – Comics in this range may have one or more of the following defects. Cover is relatively flat with minor surface wear and the cover inks are generally bright with medium to high reflectivity. Staples may show some minor discoloration. Small spine stress: may have minor color breaking, slight corner blunting, miniscule tear, miniscule color flake, light crease on an interior page, light color breaking crease on cover, minor Marvel chipping, minor off center printing, minor denting, slight yellowing of pages, small amount of denting. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present on older comics. FINE (FN): – Comics in this range may have one or more of the following defects. May include more major defects such as slight spine roll, a moderate amount of spine stress color break, minor staple tears, a minor spine split, minor water spotting or residue, an impacted corner and/or moderate foxing, tanning but not brittle pages, minor missing piece of cover, subscription crease, minor soiling, cover and/or inside pages could have minor tears and/or folds, cover can be loose from one staple but not detached, lose of cover gloss. VERY GOOD (VG): – Comics in this range may have one or more of the following defects. May include more major defects such as major spine roll, a major amount of spine stress color break, large staple tears, a large spine split, large water spotting or residue, a major impacted corner and/or major foxing, yellowing but not brittle pages, major missing piece of cover, subscription crease, minor soiling, cover and/or inside pages could have large tears and/or folds, cover and centerfold can be loose from staples but not detached, loss of cover gloss. GOOD (GD): – Comics in this range may have one or more of the following defects. May include more major defects such as major spine roll, a major amount of spine stress color break, large staple tears, a large spine split, large water spotting or residue, a major impacted corner and/or major foxing, yellowing but not brittle pages, major missing piece of cover, subscription crease, minor soiling, cover and/or inside pages could have large tears and/or folds, cover can be loose from staples but not detached, centerfold may be completely loose, loss of cover gloss. FAIR (FR): – Comics in this range are in EXTREMELY rough shape. Basically, most collectors think of these as “reader” comics as they are not attractive and are generally used to fill holes in collections until the collector can find better, higher grade issues to replace them with. Multiple Major Defects. Large and major tears, rips, staining, chipping, soiling, water damage, etc, etc. May be missing coupons, etc,…but still a readable copy. POOR (PR): – Heavily damaged to the point that the book is no longer collectible, a reader or filler copy until it can be replaced. **Photos are of actual Comic. Please examine photos and ask questions before bidding or buying. Comics will have the defects associated with the grade given IN THE TITLE of this auction according to the Overstreet Comics Buyers Guide (Basic Scale, not point grade scale).
