Description: Pictured is an early spongeware stoneware bean pot offered for sale. The bulbous, ovoid-shaped pot is attributed to the Dan Mercer Pottery Co. in Parkersburg, West Virginia & dates from the early 1900's. It is sponged decorated with an olive green & a burgandy red coloration over a light tan background base. The pot is bisque (unglazed) & is in immaculate condition with no nicks, damage or repairs whatsoever. It measures 6 1/2" in height and 6 1/4" in base diameter. The pot would accommodate a 4" diameter cover & is unmarked.
