Description: From John Stanley Antique Tools - This listing is for an original DAMON BROS. axe head. This has been in our own personal collection for some time. Marked as shown with an incised mark. We have seen very few Damon Bros. axe heads and any we have seen all have this incised mark which was not stamped very deep. This has the date (19)45 stamped on the underside of the head. Also stamped on the underside of the head in front of the eye is the letter "W", which is the temperers mark. Although stamped '3 1/2' on the face for the weight, the actual weight is 3 1/4 lbs. Measures 6 7/8" long with a 3 7/8" wide cutting edge. We are pleased to offer yet again another hard to find axe head from one of Oakland Maine's premier axe makers.
