The deformity at the bottom looks like it was caused by the rope-kind item. Here's another shell with a story. Deep dark as the color of a grand piano in black lacquer finish. It used to be a home for barnacles, but maybe it didn't like the intruders, so it covered the attachments with enamel. The deformity at the bottom could mean it got stuck for a while. Although it's not the best quality one in my collection, it's the best as it's interesting and unique. I used to think that if I could only keep one Mauritiana cowrie I would choose to keep this one.
