I bought this, plus two others listed separately, at a Friends of the Library sale in the early 2000's and never framed them. Shipped with the sleeve and stiff board used when I bought it. Not certain if they are archival. Publication notes: The longest running botanical magazine, the British Botanical Magazine began in February 1787 by William Curtis as an illustrated gardening and botanical journal. The publication continued almost without interruption for 160 years. William Curtis edited the first 13 volumes, followed by John Simms (1800-1826), William Jackson Hooker (1827-1865) and Joseph Dalton Hooker (1865-1904). Hooker was a scientist of great repute and under his direction the magazine acquired a scientific air. The images were engraved and hand-coloured by many artists including John Curtis, Sydenham Edwards, H. Weddell, William Graves, James Sowerby, William Jackson Hooker, W.H. Fitch, Matilda Smith, Lillian Snelling and Stella Rose Craig. The plates are known for their fine detail and delicate hand coloring. All the prints in the first 70 volumes are copper engravings, after which they are stone or zinc lithography until the introduction of color printing in 1948.
