Description: Cuban comic Book Ay Vecino! by Cuban artist Francisco Blanco Avila. The famous "fat and skinny" strip was first published on April 27, 1967 in Palante. After that initial moment, the comic has appeared about 3,000 times in different media in Cuba and abroad, in addition to its characters being used in posters, almanacs and other media.It was conceived as a diversion and an experiment as it attempted to create humorous situations limited to a single setting and two protagonists. Francisco Blanco Avila was born in La Habana, Cuba. He is one of Cuba's most prominent cartoonists, able to capture a person's typical elements in a couple of lines. He published his first art in the magazine Fotos in 1948. He was the editorial cartoonist of El Mundo since 1960, and worked at the agency Prensa Latina since 1959. He was founder of the humorous magazine Palante, which he directed from 1970 to 1985. He was also co-founder of the magazine Comicos that was published in Cuba from 1986 to 1990.
