Description: CT Altwasser Silesia Purple Vase Opalescent Carl Tielsch 1920s Germany 8.25" My late mother was a photographer who loved glass and porcelain and things that reflected or refracted light. This was one of her favorite vases. She loved putting purple statice in it. Vase is a white porcelain, with an opalescent purple glaze over it. Years of handling have caused scratches in the purple where the white shows through. Mom never minded this, nor do I. With all of the visual interest of the glaze looking purple and pink and yellow, and light reflecting, I really don't notice them when the vase is in use, even though there are lots of areas of scratching. No cracks or chips. Vase measures 8.25 inches tall x 3.5 inches wide at the widest. It is 2.75 inches in diameter at the rim and 2.5 inches in diameter on the base.
