Crewel work curtain Vintage French textile handmade embroidery hand worked

A wonderful Crewel-work textile!! ~ A lovely curtain ( I have the matching panel , Please see the link below. ~ this textile is made of a wonderfully nubby , warm toned cotton ground fabric, and all hand embroidered! This textile would have taken ages to made!! Lovely primary tones ~*~ This panel is gathered at the top for hanging ~ this panel was once backed,It is no longer backed! . I believe the fabric dates from the 19th century but it was reworked at home point in the mid 1900s ~ I LOVE the pattern!! 100% hand worked ~ the thread used for the embroidery is wool ! ~ Ideal for hanging as a curtain, but also the fabric is wonderful to use for upholstery projects , pillows etc ~ Link to matching panel : https://www.etsy.com/listing/853783915/crewel-work-curtain-vintage-french?ref=listings_manager_grid MEASUREMENTS: This panel measures approximately 58 inches wide at the bottom, by 62 inches long . The top, where it is gathered measures 27 inches wide ~ CONDITION: This textile is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. It could use a wash ~ it has a slightly musty smell so should be cleaned , OR not if using for sewing projects ~*~ ! I would recommend dry cleaning~ this textile was exposed to the sun on the left facing side, so there is sun damage ( please see photographs) along the side edge ~ Inventory number : E 4001 08/12/2020
