Description: FREE SHIPPING Beautiful and RARE Cowan Pottery (Rocky River, OH) limited-edition figure, NAUTCH DANCER, designed by Waylande Gregory. Die-impressed marks. Made in 1930 or 1931. Inspired by an actual dancer named Gilda Grey, whose Nautch (a pleated, but otherwise tight-fitting dress) was key to the nautch dance she performed on vaudeville stages. Few examples of this design were made--although a similar example is in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Glazed in a dark version of Shadow White. Height is 17.5". Factory new condition. No nicks, chips, hairlines, or repairs. Note one small glazed-over base nick, as shown in the photos. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Questions?
