Using a special process we call ATV (Aged To Vintage), we treat the solid engelmann spruce top to give it that big and open tone of a decades-old, highly-sought-after acoustic. Torrefied Solid Engelmann Spruce Top More tactile and sensitive than Sitka spruce, Engelmann spruce exhibits a clear and smooth top-end that is responsive to a light soft touch, making it ideal for solo fingerstyle players or folk/pop singer-songwriters where the acoustic guitar takes center stage. “AAA” Grade Solid Flamed Maple Back and Sides Flamed Maple is like a combination of the low-mids of mahogany, and the rich overtones of rosewood. This versatility makes Flamed Maple stand out for both fingerstyle playing or strumming as well as being a perfect match for the spruce top. Modern Concert Body Shape Inspired by the popular grand concert body shape, the newly designed Modern Concert body shape is Cort’s own rethinking of the smaller acoustic body type that was carefully designed for enhanced resonance and responsiveness. L.R.Baggs® Anthem Pickup The L.R.Baggs® Anthem pickup/preamp system delivers the pure acoustic vibrations of the instrument to the amplifier and PA without any coloration. Unneeded feedback can also be easily and effectively controlled through minimalistic controls that do not interfere with the look of the instrument. Hard Maple Neck and Ebony Fretboard The maple neck provides a brighter punchier tone than the conventional neck materials such as mahogany, and the ebony fretboard provides a crisp and responsive sound in conjunction with the body’s acoustic resonance. Neck Profile Cort has developed comfortable dimensions in neck thickness from the headstock to the heel to increase comfort in your hands and optimize playability. To assure consistency, Cort uses state-of-the-art CNC machines to accurately mill each and every neck. Each neck is then carefully sanded and finished by skilled craftsmen who have a dedication and passion for building some of the best acoustic guitars in the world. Hand-Rolled Body & Fret Edge Treatment The sharp edges on the body, fretboard and frets are all hand- rolled to make them round, smooth and ultra- comfortable to touch and play. This process is highly complex and time-consuming and requires the skilled workmanship of experienced craftsmen. DoubleLock Neck Joint The connection between a guitar’s neck and body is another key factor for great sound. On the Gold, we started with a tight fitting traditional dovetail neck joint. We then reinforced it by adding a bolt. This DoubleLock neck joint maximizes the transfer of tone and enhances resonance on the Gold. Walnut Reinforced Neck The neck on the Gold has been reinforced for added rigidity and stability using two special inserts. This is constructed with two pieces of walnut installed to add stability while still retaining the natural properties of wood to further upgrade the Gold. Luminlay Side Dots The Luminlay side dot position markers make it easy for players to see the fretboard position when performing on dark stages. Sonically Enhanced UV Finish UV finish is about 30% thinner than standard finishes and this allows the wood to “breathe” and vibrate more freely. This process requires a shorter drying time and reduces chemical interaction between the finish and the woods, which is ideal for your instrument’s longevity. Due to the much shorter drying time and the lack of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in the UV finish material, it is also an environmentally friendly process.
