Description: This listing is for a new Corgi M48A3 Patton Main Battle Tank USMC, Vietnam, Tet Offensive, 1968 die-cast model. This model was released in 2006 with only 3,900 pieces distributed worldwide. Model in these photos belongs to my collection. Outer box has a thin tear line at 1 of the corner and some shelves ware due to long time storage. Scale: 1/50 Length: 5.0" Width: 2.75" The M48 tank was an essential element of the U.S. Marine Corps presence in Vietnam. It was used in a wide variety of roles from perimeter defense to search and destroy. The Marine Corps garrison at Khe Sanh was surrounded and cut off by the North Vietnamese Army during the TET offensive in February 1968, and in April the U.S. military launched Operation Pegasus to relieve the besieged garrison. While on a road patrol up Route 9, this M48 with Corporal Gerry Hall as tank commander was caught in a nighttime ambush.
