Description: KEYWORDS: Northrop Aircraft Inc. Hawthorne, CA Northrop Field B-35 B35 YB-49 B-49 B49 RB-49A XB-35 Mirac Edwards AFB Please note: I ship to USA only. Depending on buyer's location eBay may collect state sales tax. Price is firm. For sale is a copy (NOT an original) of a vintage, partial, copy of A Northrop Aircraft Inc. report entitled: "Accident Investigation YB-49 USAF 42-102368". The "original" copy is of poor quality, is only partial, and is difficult to read, but readable. While nothing appears to be concluded about the cause of the crash, the document is still of historic significance and an interesting read. Including the title page there are five total pages. There is no indication of the total number of pages of the original report. The report No. appears to be NM-13 and it is dated June 1948 The only sections present are: Section 1: Summary of Accident Section 8: Conclusions (factual data and conclusions). Conclusion sections appear to be incomplete but includes 1. Exceeding flight restrictions 2. Asphyxiation by fire extinguishing system 3. Spin resulting from a stall. An old copy of this item was contained in a collection of Northrop materials owned by Career Northrop structural engineer (Lawrence Le Vau) from whose estate these materials came. Again, there is no title block for this print. The copy that I am selling is a scanned copy of that copy. Please see the photos. Mr. Le Vau worked on the B-35 and the B-49 flying wings and it appears, based on the materials provided, he worked on the F-89D Scorpion as well. He was on a team that investigated the crash of YB-49 aircraft 2 (there is a photo of him with three other members of that team in the field - and labeled as such). When I was asked to list this (and other items from Mr. Le Vau's collection I was concerned about the legality of it (with Army, Air Force, and Northrop drawings, reports, and other documents). So I investigated that aspect and I was told by Maxwell AFB personnel that since the material is over 50 years old it is all fair game. This item would be of particular interest to any fan of the history of the Northrop Flying wing aircraft but would also be of interest to any military aviation buff in general. Any folks involved in the design, manufacture, and failure investigation of military aircraft might be interested in this as well. Please ask any questions you might have prior to bidding. Thank you. seller’s item reference number: 6.2.8.002 - 912 note: listings from this seller may be unavailable from 12/7 through 12/26 hhL8191203IDT_4
