Description: This type of lamp usually sat below a chandelier and a rubber hose connected it to a gas cock on the chandelier. This might have been unsightly having a hose dropping down from the fixture above but that was one of the disadvantages of gas lighting. However gas was more reliable with less interruptions than the lose of electrical power. Everything that has been done is totally reversible. The etched shade is complementary for the lamp. The height is a little more than 15 inches and sits on a base of stone that is 4 1/2" square. The shade has a 4" fitter and flares out to about 8".
