Description: Gorgeous Antique Gas LampConverted to Electric Great condition! This original early 1900's gas light has been wired and is ready to use as an electric pendant light. Originally used possibly as a street or sidewalk lamp, it is the Solar Inverted Arc lamp, patented in 1909. The brass pole has a ceiling canopy added for hanging in your home or on your porch. The canopy can be removed if you like a more industrial look. Light rubs in the brass here and there - nothing notable (see closeups). The white enamel on the fixture is in great condition with very little wear for its age, and just a little touch up here and there along the edge (see closeups) - nothing noticeable unless inspecting closely. The glass globe has no chips or cracks. The chains originally controlled the lamp, however they are now for looks only. The fixture uses one standard base light bulb - we suggest using an LED bulb for any brightness you like. Light bulb & ceiling mount screws not included. Measurements:Total height: 38" not including the chain hanging past the globeThe chain extends past the globe by about 16" - you can shorten this if needed by removing linksGlobe diameter: 12"Ceiling canopy diameter: 4" This beautiful antique is from a large antique lighting collection in Fenton, Michigan - see and watch our store for more from this fantastic collection. Here are details about the restorer: The late Bob Daly was a marathon runner and worked in his family's burglar alarm business until he started his own antique lighting restoration business in Fenton, Michigan in the 1980's: "Historic Lighting Restoration Services and Sales". He was restoring antique lighting for almost 40 years. This beautiful light was thoughtfully and skillfully restored by Bob to the tiniest detail. From new wiring to cleaning to touching up, buffing and polishing, Bob was a master at the details. He loved what he did and was excited to share these restored works of art with the next generation (see a newspaper article picture of him in photo #24). He worked with loving care, and you can be proud to own one of his restorative works of art.
