Continental Currency Fr#CC-46 July 22, 1776 $30 PMG 30 *Scarce Issue*

Description: The popular July 22, 1776 issue was authorized shortly after Congress adopted the declaration of independence. Additionally, the $1 denomination was eliminated from this series. The notes of this issue are scarce. This $30 note features an emblem of a wreath on a tomb. This emblem is encircled by the latin motto “SI RECTE FACIES” (If you act righteously you will be honored after death). The reverse uniquely features 2 emblems of a strong wind creating waves and a beautiful sun shining on ships at sea. The first emblem was designed by Benjamin Franklin and is encircled by the latin motto “VI CONCITATE” (Driven by force). The second is encircled by the motto “CESSANTE VENTO CONQUIESCEMUS” (When the storm dies down we will rest). Very attractive problem free note with light paper and bold ink. High eye appeal for the grade. Signers: James Johnston, Philip Kinsey Date: July 22, 1776 Denomination: $30 Friedberg #: CC-46 State: Continental Certification: PMG Grade: 30 Comments: None
