Description: Francisco Rebajes was from Dominican Republic and was a self-taught goldsmith, jeweler and sculptor. He stood out as a jeweler in the United States in the mid-twentieth century, a pioneer in the use of copper in modern jewelry, a material that appeared casually in his life and he made it his attribute. This plate/tray has a raised elephant on it that has been worked from the back (see photos). It has a raised eye as well (see photos). It is signed on the side, and with signature he used from about 1937, which has an infinity ring instead of the letter S. I am unsure of when this plate/tray was made. It measures about 5.75 inches square. There is an age/tarnish on the tray both on the front and the back. I will ship this item within 1 day of a received payment. If purchased on the weekend, it will ship out on Monday.
