Description: The commemorative coin of the National Bank of Ukraine "ZOLOCHIVSKYI ZAMOK" with a face value of 5 hryvnias (in souvenir packaging),is a part of the series "Architectural Monuments of Ukraine" and is dedicated to the bastion castle-fortress in Galicia, built in the first half of the XVII century - Zolochiv Castle, which represents a neo-Dutch type of defense structures. Located on a low hill, the castle once served both as a defense and a dwelling, i.e. it belongs to the "palazzo in fortezzo" type of monuments. The defensive structures of Zolochiv Castle include ramparts, bastions, a gate tower, a bridge, and a raveline. The Renaissance ensemble is created by the entrance tower, the Great Residential and Chinese palaces, which are one of the few examples of oriental architecture on the Ukrainian lands.
