Collectible Antique McGuffey's Fifth Eclectic Reader Book

Description: McGuffey’s Fifth Reader of the Eclectic Series, Antique Book, Collectible, Ohio Hardcover Schoolbook Primer Reading Textbook Early Reading I do not know the age of this book as the first 18 pages are missing. However, Mr. A. M. Carter and Rosedale Ohio are written on the inside cover. Armstead Maywood Carter was born in Woodstock Ohio in 1853. The book measures about 7.5 by 5 by 1.5 inches. The cover reads Eclectic Series Educational. The headers on each page read McGuffey’s Fifth Reader of the Eclectic Series. The book is in poor condition with some loose pages, soiling, and some torn pages. The first 18 pages are missing and the other pages contain considerable writing and notes by young Mr. Carter. There is some evidence that even back in the mid-1800s, young men were writing young ladies’ names in school books. Although I can say the young lady’s name written in this book was not Mr. Carter’s future wife. If I do not insure the item through the carrier, I will personally provide a full refund, including shipping costs.
