Description: This is a 2 map set of the Town of Colchester, CT from 1868. These two Maps are original colored 155 year old maps. They are very rare, fragile and as shown in the pictures contain perimeter imperfections. The first map of the village of Colchester which is primarily yellow is approximately 15” tall and 12” wide. The second map of the township of Colchester which shows the many colored districts and is approximately 10” tall and 15” wide. Both Maps due to their age show age marks and except for the minor imperfections are intact. The pictures provided only show portions of the actual maps! Please contact me with any questions! Contained on the maps are finely detailed locations of the homeowners of the Town of Colchester with the villages of North Westchester (was called Ironworks), Lake Hayward (was called Hayward Pond), Westchester, Colchester (was called Packwoodville), Golden Hill Paugassett Reservation and the land as it appeared before the Deep River Reservoir was created. Some of the surnames which are clearly printed are Standish, Sprague, Peters, Smith, Hall, Kellogg, Brown, Flynn, Foot, Clark, Hayward, Wheeler and so many more that it's impossible to list! The names shown are indeed very small yet can be read. Also indicated on the maps are schools, named streets, railroads and rivers/streams. It would indeed make quite a conversation piece as well as an excellent gift for that person who has everything! What a great genealogical treasure to be able to locate the homes of one or more of your ancestors! Multiple purchases can be combined for one shipping charge!
