Description: This is from the estate of Chapman Shaw Root, a former chairman of the country's largest Coca Cola bottling company. This 1oz 24k gold-plated silver bar encapsulated in lucite paperweight - along with the patch - was awarded to Mr. Root on the 75th Anniversary of Columbus, GA bottling company.Mr. Root inherited Associated Coca-Cola Bottlers, which had plants in Pennsylvania, Florida, New York and New Jersey, from his grandfather. He headed it from 1951 until 1982, when he sold his 57.5 percent interest to the Coca-Cola Company for $417.5 million.Mr. Root's grandfather, Chapman J. Root of Terre Haute, IN, was the founder and owner of the Root Glass Company, which designed and patented the wasp-waist Coca-Cola bottle in the early 1900's. Chapman J. Root acquired several Coca-Cola bottling franchises, the basis for Associated Coca-Cola Bottlers. Coca Cola 75th Anniversary1 oz .999 24K Gold-Plated Art Bar (Silver)Columbus, GA1901-1976This 24k gold-plated silver (or bronze?) bar is very rarely ever seen in or outside eBay and comes at a premium. All gold-plated bars are very rare, and most serious collectors want one. Most of these gp bars have very limited mintage believed to be mostly just approx 5 to 10 to 25 to 50 to 100+ only, as these were mostly just presented to executives and VIPs, and were not issued to the public.GP bars are mostly either without any rim markings on both sides (thus no serial number), or stamped 24K GOLD (or GP or GOLD PLATED) on one side of the rim, or stamped PROOF on another side of the rim, as these are mostly samples or gifts to execs and are not part of the regular strike. Although there are GPs also with serial #s, being the first early serial numbers and have the stamp 24K GP or PROOF. These varies because everything is upon discretion of each bottling company. This particular bar, encapsulated in lucite, has blank edges. Most of these ingots given as awards to VIPs & execs are silver. I believe that the base metal is silver, but the book only mentions 24K gold-plated bronze, so this might be bronze. The premium value is not in the metal anyway, but in its collectible and rarity factor.Catalog # of the bar is WWM-63BVGP.The book says unknown mintage. However, this item almost never appears.Nice shiny finish, in mint condition. This item is beyond mintage as it is from one-of-a-kind estate of one of Coca Cola's biggest VIP in its history. The patch is included in the sale. Please check the pictures as part of the description.
