Still designing today Pavone's pieces are instantly recognizable. Each piece of jewelry is made entirely by hand and requires several weeks of work to complete. Marie-Christine has created, designed, cut, polished, hand painted and signed each piece herself and can add a very personal and original touch to your outfit. Pavone jewelry is very good value for money in my opinion, more so than some of the other brooch artists as her items are hand made from original 1920s – 1930s Galalith, Bakelite and Lucite, but mostly Galalith. Galalith was made from casein (in milk), which is where its name derives from – Gala (milk) and Lithos (stone). It is a member of the early plastic and phenolics family and it was invented in the late 19th century. Working with galaith is similar to working with wood, it requires cutting and sanding but also requires different phases of polishing to give it a shiny and finished appearance. Galalith is of great interest as it is an infinite palette of bright or soft, light or dark shades and even color changes in one solid piece. Sometimes erroneously referred to as “French Bakelite,” this substance was developed in 1895. It is odorless, insoluble in water, biodegradable, non allergenic, antistatic and virtually nonflammable. It was produced under other names such as Aladdinite (in the United States), Casolith (in the Netherlands) and Lactoloid (in Japan) Pavone is handmade and imperfections may be present. A Note About Colors and Returns: We’re all about keeping it real! 🎨 Every piece in our shop is photographed in full-spectrum studio lighting with an iPhone 13 Pro, so what you see is what you get—no filters, no tricks, just pure vintage goodness! But hey, every screen’s a little different, so the colors might vary slightly in person. If you have any questions or want extra pics, just holler—we’re always here to help! 😊 🌟 We're passionate about vintage and do our best to nail down the era and details of each gem through careful research. While we strive for accuracy, we’re not perfect—but we promise we’re pretty darn close! And rest assured, all our treasures have been kept in a smoke-free zone, so they’re fresh and ready for you. Take a good look at the photos and feel free to ask questions before you hit that “buy” button—this is a final sale. Remember, those little quirks and imperfections? They’re what make vintage so special and full of character! Some wear should be assumed for Pre-Loved, Vintage and Antique pieces. ✨ Conditional Returns: We pride ourselves on the quality of our collection, so we’re confident you’ll love your purchase. If something is genuinely off, like if the item is significantly different from our description or photos, we’re here to work with you – just send us a message. But due to the unique nature of vintage items (they’re delicate, just like us after a long week! 😅), we can’t offer a blanket return policy. Thank you for understanding! Thanks for shopping with us and supporting our small business! 🎉 Happy treasure hunting!
