Description: welcome to my store Clove Ceylon Syzygium Rare Tropical Plant for Planting Seeds Ancient Spice The clove tree is a bushy, tropical evergreen woody plant native to the Maluku Islands of Indonesia. The preferred growing condition for this tree is a mixed maritime forest in the tropics. The tree is grown commercially for the flower buds, which are picked soon after they appear and then dried, yielding the clove. The fruit matures about 9 months after flowering, and each flower yields one seed. Harvesting of the flowers is not done until a tree is at least 4 years old, and the trees can live up to 100 years. The clove tree is monoecious, producing both male and female flowers on the same plant. Uses: Many Americans use cloves for cooking. They are popular spices for baked hams and pumpkin pie. But clove tree uses are much broader than this globally. In Indonesia, cloves are used to make popular clove aromatized cigarettes. Other clove tree uses are medicinal. Extracted clove oil is also used as an essential oil that is used medicinally. Some people also make tea from cloves that is considered to help with stomach upsets, chills and impotence. Clove seeds grow well in a variety of soils.Deep and rich loam with high humus content is ideal for the crop. It also grows satisfactorily in laterite soils. Pure sandy soil is not suitable for this crop. Clove seeds do not tolerate waterlogging and therefore the land selected for this crop should be well drained. Planting material Cloves are propagated by seed. Ripe fruits on the tree should be sown immediately and the seeds lose viability quickly within 48 hours of collection. The seeds are obtained by soaking in water and removing the outer pulp. Show early and uniform germination. Shade-dried seeds are sown in perforated polythene bags containing equal parts of well-rotted farmyard manure, topsoil and coarse sand. Can the size of polythene bags vary from 10? 20cm to 25? 40 cm depending on the time kept in the nursery before field planting. Larger plants (15-20 months) establish well in the field. How to grow cloves from seed Clove seeds should be lightly scattered on the surface of a moist, rich potting mix. Do not bury the seeds, they will germinate directly on the soil surface. Choose soil with a high percentage of well-draining sand or clay. Place a seed in well-drained soil and cover with plastic. Cover the soil with plastic wrap to keep the humidity high while the seeds germinate. You can use a clear lid or clear plastic to retain proper moisture and humidity. Daytime temperatures should remain constant around 85 F. (30 C) and night temperatures should not drop below 60 F. (15 C) for germination. It is important to maintain these conditions until the seedlings are ready for planting. Clove plants should not be transplanted for at least 6 months. Protect the seedlings from direct sunlight and water daily. Find a partially shaded spot for your seedlings so that your clove plant gets about 3-6 hours of sunlight per day. Thank you and have a nice day!
