Description: 1960's High School Yearbook with great photographs and text showing the students, faculty, activities, sports, literature, classmate inscriptions, graphics, pictures of school and surrounding, and local advertisement. Seniors are individually photographed. Including graduating senior and future major league baseball star pitcher Sam McDowell. Great condition, beautiful photos and period design. Only 71 graduates in this small school.Sam McDowell played fifteen seasons in Major League Baseball, the first 11 coming for the Cleveland Indians. He was A six-time All-Star (1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970 and 1971), and led the American league in strike-outs 5 times. Tall (6 feet, 5 inches) and powerful, his left-handed fastball was delivered with an unusually calm pitching motion which led to his memorable nickname, "Sudden Sam." The character of Sam Malone, the ex-Red Sox pitcher portrayed by Emmy Award winning actor Ted Danson in the television program Cheers, was based on the baseball life of McDowell.Very Good condition hardback padded issue with tight binding and text and clean pages, with no must or mildew or missing pieces, with mild shelf wear. Solid. Great rarity giving an historic look at the early life and times of one of baseball's scintillating hurlers--Just waiting for a good home.Email or call for any details.
