Description: Clear Glass Food Dome Cloche Cover Lid, Heavy Small, Cheese, Butter, Dessert, Sweets, Farmhouse Kitchen, Antique Cottage Farm, Picnic, Patio This antique dome measures 6.25 inches from the inside rim to the inside rim. It measures just over 6.50 inches from the outside rim to the outside rim. The first stage of the dome measures about 1.75 inches tall, with an additional approximately 1.25 inches to the top of the inside of the dome. Including the top handle, knob, or finial, the dome stands about 4.5 inches tall. At one time, this type of dome was essential to every kitchen. This one came from an Ohio farmhouse estate and is likely made by one of the many Ohio glass companies. I believe it to be from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. The dome is in excellent condition. It is not an especially large dome but would cover nicely some cheese treats, a block of butter, a few picnic cookies, or your favorite chocolates. Let your imagination lead you to a variety of uses, whether on your kitchen counter or your backyard picnic table.
