The Star-Treader was favorably reviewed, with one critic proclaiming Smith the "Keats of the Pacific". Later, following the publication of his third collection of verse, Ebony and Crystal (1922), Smith received a fan letter from H.P. Lovecraft, which was the beginning of 15 years of friendship and correspondence between the two masters of dark fantasy and horror. Octavo: [100] p. with a title page printed in red and black.
