Description: Timeless Stitches TSS-201 "STANDARD DOUBLE OPENING SKIRT" pattern. This is a new, unused pattern in the original factory fold. The pattern is adjustable to fit all waistlines and all hoop sizes, a truly adjustable pattern. Be aware that it is not a pattern with paper pieces but instructions for using panels of various sizes to make an skirt for all sizes and ages. Once you have worked through the instructions you will know to the inch, just how much fabric you will need for any size and circumference of skirt. The directions also include lots of ideas for trimming and finishing the skirt. (This is now the ONLY pattern I use for making period skirts!) "A basic skirt pattern that can be used for everything from a work skirt to a ball gown skirt. The waistband utilizes double openings which make the skirt adjustable to waistline changes. This is a great skirt for a growing daughter, as 2-4 inches can be planned into the waistband and growth tucks can be planned into the length, giving room for several years of growth. Information is given on skirt lengths and hem choices. Suggested fabric and trims: A skirt can be made of almost any fabric imaginable. You want to look for fabrics that have "period" appeal. Cottons, silks, rayon, wool and blends all work well. Unless you desire the "fancy" look, try to stay away from shiny fabrics. You can use calicos, stripes, dots (what we now call polka dots), small florals, and solids. Try to avoid large patterns and prints unless you are after a specific look. Consider the time of year you plan on wearing your garment when choosing your fabric. To be historically correct your trims should be 100% cotton. Look for eyelet and flat laces that are not glossy in appearance. Contrasting fabric stripes and inserts make great skirt trims. There are also many packaged bias trims that work great. Always consider what you plan on wearing your skirt with, when choosing your trim. Ladies of the Era loved to coordinate their clothing. Your skirt trim should match or compliment your bodice trim.
