Description: From Mr. Fred M. KirbyHoliday Greeting circa 1920's Fred Morgan Kirby was a giant in the pioneer retail industry. Starting in the late 19th century he was one of the early entrepreneurs who started the 5 and 10 cents stores which are the predecessor to today's dollar stores. By 1912 he merged his 96 5&10 cents stores with F.W. Woolworths to make the largest discount store chain in the country. He served on the Woolworth's board of directors and was one of the company's vice presidents. Mr. Kirby had homes at both Wilkes Barre and Glen Summit Pennsylvania. This is a folded Christmas card that measures about 4" x5" when folded and unfolds to 4"x10". It is in very good condition but does not include the original envelope.
