Description: This is an antique Christmas hanging candle lantern that could be displayed all year round. It is about 4" high to the top of the lantern, 7" overall to top of wire hanger, about 2-3/4" wide. It is octagonal with a tin frame with ruffled pillars that separate the 8 glass panels that alternate blue and white. The holder for the candle slides out from the bottom by lifting the body. I believe these lanterns are pretty rare. They date to about 1890-1900. Probably French, came from a NY estate which had antiques of mostly French origin. Condition: Very good antique condition. These lanterns are quite fragile and should probably be used only for display. Amazingly, none of the glass panels is cracked or chipped, but there is wear in some of the blue color tint on a couple of panels. Price is for EACH lantern. Sold AS IS. Please ask questions before purchasing. 7277
