The idea of States Rights appealed to the Native American Tribes, as it coincided with Native sovereignty They also believed that the US government was on the verge of collapse. At the start of the Civil War, several Choctaw regiments were raised for service in the Confederate States Army. In all, about 3000 Choctaw Braves served in the CSA Army.
