As the author of the award-winning monograph Holding Up More than Half the Sky: Women, Sport and Society in Modern China (2002), she was awarded the prestigious "International Max and Reet Howell Award" from the North American Society of Sports History in 2007 and was a Visiting Scholar at Yale University in 2009. She has authored many articles and books in both Chinese and English on gender, culture and sport, including studies on children and physical activity. She has lectured at universities and presented at national and international conferences worldwide and has organized both national and international conferences.J.A.
