Description: Condition Continued: The only very minor imperfection is a tiny square shadow of what was likely a price sticker off the top edge of the front inside cover and a shadow that shadow on the other side of the juncture on the blank front end paper. The book has a color frontispiece (The Totem Demon). And then there are eleven 'Drawings, Scribblings, and Pictures' between pages 112 and 113. All of the illustrations are in excellent condition. There is no wear of any kind on any of the pages, text or illustration. The dust jacket is rated Good. There is a thin loss at the top edge of the spine and a little wear at the bottom edge. (see second photo). The spine also has some sun toning. The jacket looks clean but does have some smooth white rubbing or color loss. The flaps are in solid shape, very clean. There are a couple of teeny tiny tears off the top edge of the front flap. All four corners have tucking-in clips, but the price is present and unaffected. The jacket will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. Published by G. P. Putnam's Sons for the C. G. Jung Foundation for Analytical Psychology. Stated 'First American edition 1970.' This First American edition is quite rare. I found only one other for sale on the Internet. From the dust jacket: 'Dr. Michael Fordham's important book The Life of Childhood, written in 1944, first applied Jung's concept of archetypal patterns to the study of child development. Children As Individuals is a radically revised version of this original work expressing the author's matured theory and procedure. It is a study of child maturation, expressed through comprehensive investigation of the self, and individuation, in childhood. Because child development takes place in the family setting and is contained within society, chapters are devoted to these two interrelated subjects. He develops, in this context, a new genetic theory of Jung's concept of the collective unconscious.'
